There are two character systems. One is a symbol that represents a meaning, called ideogram. The other is a symbol that represents a sound, called phonogram. The character system in Japan is the KANJI, which was imported from China(KANJI means the character of HAN) in the 5th to 6th century. The following image is the writting style of KOUKOTSU-MOJI(ancient inscriptions of Chinese characters on oracle bones and carapaces). Personally, I think it is easy for us to understand ideogram.
The KANJI looks like a picture by changing the writting style.
I am attracted by the beauty and richness of the KANJI.

文字システムは２つあります。
1つは意味を表わす表意文字，もう一つは音を表す表音文字と呼びます。
私たち日本人が使っている文字システムは，５～６世紀に中国から輸入されたといわれる漢字（漢：Hanの文字）です。
表意文字を理解するには甲骨文字がわかりやすいです。
例えば「魚」や「鳥」はこんな絵から出来ています。
漢字は書き方によっては絵のように見えたりします。
この面白さ，豊かさ，美しさは漢字ならではの魅力です。
私の作品は決して「読む」にはふさわしくないかもしれませんが，「見て」楽しい作品創りを心掛けています。
